The ship arrives to the port of the city of Muscat, then we get into an internal bus of the port which takes us to the entrance and from there one can walk easily to the Muttrah area where there is a lot of restaurant and the great “Souq”

When you know, there is only one day in a place, normally we enjoy it to the fullest, eating delicious Omani food, shopping in the Muttrah Souq, and of course without doubting it, visiting the Mosque of Sultan Qaboos is a must.

Muttrah Souq

Omani Food: In the area of Muttrah you can find lots of restaurants with local food, and part of the typical food is from lamb to chicken with exquisite fresh baked pita bread, delicious hummus and other typical sauces. It is important to mention no alcohol is sold in Oman, only in hotels or place that have the permit to do so. The food per person had a cost of 10$. For dessert, we would recommend to try the Kunafa, which is a traditional dessert.

In the Muttrah Souq you can find all type of things that you will be amazed. Here is a list of 5 things you must buy and bring home:

To have the opportunity to buy Argan Oil locally produced is definitely a privilege, none of our countries we can find such good quality, fresh and pure. So prepare yourself to bring as much as you can!

Dates raised in Oman: Dates, with fillings or without fillings. They are delicious!

Scarves: The quality of the scarfs is very good and there is a lot of styles to choose from, you will love it even more when you find out the prices are good.

Traditional Jewelry: Jewelry made with pure silver, traditional Omani, without a doubt could be a ideal complement to your outfits and of course very original.  Jewelry is sold by weight, so, it means it can adapt to all the budgets.

Visiting the Mosque of Sultan Qaboos: One you arrive to the Mosque, you will be astonished by the great mosque. It is beautiful and the architecture is impressive. This Mosque is the most important of the entire sultanate. Is very important to always keep in mind that this is a religious place, religious rules must be followed at all times. Women need to cover their head with scarves; also shoes must be removed when entering.  This is the only Mosque where non-Muslim people are permitted to enter. If you are not dressed properly, there is availability to buy clothes or ropes for 7$ approximate to cover yourself and enter.
