When it comes to skincare, we can find a lot of information through different sources, which can sometimes be overwhelming or confusing about what to do and what to avoid.
Have you ever heard of that phrase, “Each person is a world,” well that also applies to our skin.
Not all of them are the same, and certainly, they tend to have their own needs and react differently from the rest. That means that what works on someone else, it won’t necessarily work the same way on you.
The world of skincare is quite vast, but it is certainly not impossible to decipher.

However, if you are still not satisfied or are not getting the results you expected, today we will discuss some of the things that you could be doing wrong in your skincare routine.
1.- NOT KNOWING YOUR SKIN TYPE
Whether it is dry, mixed, oily, with rosacea, atopic, etc. It is important to know your skin type so you can buy the products that will give you the best benefits.
Otherwise, you will start thinking that certain products do not work, when you could not be using the right ones for your skin type. Later we will share an article that will help you recognize what type of skin you have and what are your skin needs.
2.- APPLYING PRODUCTS IN THE WRONG ORDER
The rule “The order of the factors DOES alter the product” applies here.
For example, if you use a cream before a serum, the serum will no longer penetrate as it should, as the cream has a higher density.
You should always apply the products from lower to higher density. So that your skin can receive all the benefits of each product and not remain on the surface of your skin.
3.- CHOOSING PRODUCTS ACCORDING TO YOUR AGE AND NOT THE NEEDS OF YOUR SKIN
Most skincare products are not based only on the age of the person, but the needs of the skin since many types of skin have characteristics based on the genetic or lifestyle of the person and not necessarily the age.
If you start to notice spots on your skin, expression lines, or any other type of characteristic, it is important that no matter how old you are, you start treating them.
It is better to prevent than have to correct these issues later. So, remember do not base yourself only on age but on the needs of your skin.
4.- RUBBING THE SKIN TOO MUCH WHEN APPLYING PRODUCTS OR REMOVING MAKE-UP
Surely we have all done it, but there is nothing that time cannot help us to improve.
By rubbing the skin we produce more melanin, and the melanin can stain the skin and irritate it. The skin turns red and begins to swell. This can be avoided with smoother and less rough movements.
It is proven that if you rub the skin a lot when removing makeup, you can stimulate the appearance of expression lines since you are breaking the skin tissues. Therefore, the skin stretches and becomes more prone to wrinkling.
You will not notice this instantly, but over time you will.
5.- SLEEPING WITH MAKE-UP ON
It’s probably one of the tips you’ve heard the most.
Falling asleep with makeup will make your pores clog. Therefore your skin will be more prone to the appearance of pimples and blackheads.
The use of makeup will also age your skin faster because when you are sleeping, the process of cell regeneration begins. That is why on the other side, it is recommended to use face masks and night products that provide those ingredients and nutrients that help the healthy regeneration of your skin.
Keep in mind that it is not enough to use a makeup remover or micellar water. You must do a double-cleansing.
You can do it with a face soap specific to the needs of your skin. The soap will remove the makeup residues and makeup remover from your skin so that it is completely clean.
We recommend that you emulsify the soap very well with your hands for at least a minute so that your skin is completely clean, or with the help of a brush that goes with your skin type since some brushes could be a bit aggressive.
